Selling a stock
You can sell a stock you own from its page on Laurel, in dollars or in shares, or all of it at once.
Placeholder. The Laurel team will write this article before launch.
Trading on Laurel is not yet available. Orders placed today are simulated and don't buy or sell real securities.
Place a sale
- Open the stock's page
When you own shares, Sell appears next to Buy.
- Enter an amount
Choose dollars or shares and enter how much to sell, or choose Sell all.
- Review and confirm
Check the estimate, then confirm the sale.
Sales are market orders: they fill at the current price. The minimum is $1.00, except when you sell all your shares.
What your shares cost
Laurel uses average cost. When you sell, the shares you sell are counted at the average price you paid for the shares you hold, so the average cost of the shares you keep doesn't change.
After you sell
The sale appears in your order history, and the position shrinks or leaves your portfolio. See Viewing your portfolio.
